CHOOSING THE TEAM
1 AUSTRALIA'S COMMON SENSE [By Electric Cable—Copyright.! [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Friday, 7 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 4. The “Morning Post” says Australia’s plan of entrusting the selection of the team to a small committee, upon which men still active in the game are in the majority, is marked by shrewd common sense. One of the disadvantages, however, seems disclosed in Kelleway’s challenge to the selectors to explain why he has not been chosen. If Kelleway had been rejected by veterans who had long ago ceased to frequent the perilous pitch, he probably would keep a dignified and judicious silence. The “Post” hopes the English selection committee will also be small, with a sagacious veteran as chairman, having a casting vote, but that the rest will be men who are still playing.
