EARLY MORNING WORK
BY POWER BOARD GANG. Since the fatality in Manchester street, the Power Board » gang engaged in changing over the wires has been commencing work at 4 a.m., and very satisfactory progress has been made. At a recent meeting of the Power Board, it was resolved to cut off the power from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m., in order that the men could work In safety and the results of this rearrangement of working hours have proved that faster work is being done. The cutting off of the juice enables the/ men to work more quickly, for danger from an electric shock has been eliminated. After an hour for breakfast, the gang resumes afc 9 o'clock in the back street portions of the town and finishes up its day of 10 hours at 4 p.m. In the summer months it is the practice for the men t-> work two hours longer, for which they are paid overtime.
