One of his stories of street wit is of * woman and her street stall butcher* “The bit o’ steak you sold me Saturn day was that tough I could 'ave soled,' my husbands boots wiv It," aha said “Well, why didn’t you?” snapped the butcher. “I would If I could ’ave got the tacks to go through It,” came tbe retort in a flash.
