NO MAGIC IN CO-OPER-ATION
There is no magic in co-operation —it is merely one method of doing business and in adopting that method it must be clearly understood that good business practices must be followed. There is nothing in in cooperative marketing, for instance, that will enable a bad farmer to make as much money as a good farmer; but by co-operation a bad farmer may be brought to realise that he will get better returns if he improves his methods, and a good farmer will iearn that it pays to have all good farmers in his district, in order that the reputation of his district’s products may be enhanced.
When a co-operatve undertaking cau render better service to its members on the one hand, and the buying public on the other, than exist ing marketing agencies its success is assured. When It fails In this its end end is not far off. And in this respect co-operative effort is no different from the efforts of individuals and corporations. When one fails to give better or at least equal service to the ethers it has no reason for its existence.
It goes without saying that co-op-erative selling ’ls successful only where the members are well-inform-e 1 and loyal, and the leaders are capable and honest.,
