ELECTRICITY FOR APITI
Mow is the Time to Move APPEAL TO SETTLERS [From Our Own Correspondent.] AC a puuuc meeting held at. Apiti iusc ween, it was suited by a representative of the kower Board that niter a rough canvass of the district, apparently there would not be emiugn users of the power to warrant putting in a line to Apiti. Some of the drawbacks were, the number of absentees and a mivaber of leaseholders. Also that a good many returned soiuiers have farms ana the Government does not help m any way to mane it easy for returned men to get the power. it was recognised that if the settlers wanted the power they wpuld have to make a move at once and help themselves and show the Board mat a line would pay to .apiti. A strong committee was appointed with Messrs W. McKay as chairman and H. Bennett, as secretary, to canvass the district, interview the owners of property, write to absentees and show them that it would be to their interest to help the scheme, and so improve the value of their properties as well as being most useful and convenient for all.
The line-laying ‘gang are now at Kimbolton and if sufficient support is forthcoming, the gang would be able to make a start right away, but j. the present' oppo. tunity is let slip, there is no telling when the settlers will get the power put into Apiti.
