BOWLING NOTES, [From Our Own Correspondent.] The final of the triangular was played on tho Levin green on Wednesday last. Shannon were represented by two rinks as follows: — Newton, Thwaites, Spencer, E. Spencer (a.). Butt, Aim, Clayton, Bovls (s.). Both teams were beaten by Levin, thq result giving the Levin Club a win on the aggregate by 4 3 points. This is the fourth time in the last five years that this club has been successful. Shannon as usual were the runners up and are likely to remain so unless the selection committee rise to the occasion. The local green bears a very animated appearance at night time, all rinks as a rule being occupied in playing off championship singles. The' best cards to date are Section! A—B. Spencer x loss. Section B —Bartholomew no losses. Section C —Blaikle 1 loss. It is hoped to complete the single's by December 12, and then make a start with the pairs. Tennis Notes. The match With Foxton was flayed at Foxton on Wednesday and resulted in a win for the sea port by 16 sets and 11-7 games to 7 sets and 37 games. iDoinain Executive.’ At the meeting of the Shannon Domain ' Executive there were present The Mayor (Mr W. Murdoch). Messrs Butt, Hook, Richardson and Bovis, The balance sheet showed a credit of £lO7/3/7 in the bank. The Domain had been ploughed and suitable lawi grass sown, work costing £1)0/16/-. A horse lawn mower had also been purchased at a cost of £25. The paddling pool for children had been completed and would be ready for use on New Years Day. The Mayor pointed out that the last two meetings had to be postponed there being no quorum. This lack of interest was to be regretted. He suggested that tile money in hand and assets should be handed over to the Borough Council to be sot aside for Domain impro aments. He gave notice of motion to this effect which was subsequently carried. Chamber of Commerce. At its meeting last night the Secretary was Instructed to write to the postmaster asking him to restore the sorting of mails on arrival at Shannon from Wellington by the 9 p.m. train and that outward mails for tho north be forwarded from Shannon by the same train. It was pointed out that under the present arrangement the last mall for the north leaves at 2.50 p.m., and that there is no mail again until 11 a.m. next day which is very unsatisfactory. It w r as also decided to write to the Chambers of Commerce, Masterton, Eketahuna and Pahiatua to ascertain their opinions as to the advisability of moving in the direction of having a road constructed to connect up Eketahuna, Mangahao and Shannon. That, the Horowhenua County Council be written to suggesting that when the engine is installed on the Shannon punt that the working hours be extended to 11 p.m. on week days. The funeral of Mr William Stewart eldest son of Rev. A. F. Stewart, Shannon, took place on Tluirs day afternoon. Prior to the cortege, which was a lengthy one leaving foi the cemetery an impressive service was hold at the Presbyterian Church. On arrival at the cemetery tho service was conducted by Rev. MacDonald (Foxton) and Rev. Bredin (Palmers ton North). The masonic service being conducted by Worshipful Master Bro. McKen/e of Awatea Lodge, Palmerston North, assisted by the past masters of other Lodges There were a large number of beautiful floral tributes.
