In what the Federal authorities describe as the greatest raid on supposed rum importing and distributing forces yet made, in the United States, twenty men wore arrested today and charged with being implicated in an alleged liquor ring. The District Attorney, Mr Buckner, said the organisation controlled eighteen ocean steamers engaged in bringing liquor to Rum Row from foreign ports. Among those arrested is William Dwyer part owner of race tracks in Montreal and Cincinatti, who is head of the ring, according to Mr Buckner.
