“TIMES” HEARS EXHIBITION MUSIC
WIRELESS AND TELEPHONE RELAYS.
Wireless lends itself to many interesting experiments and last evening Palmerston North listeners-in were delighted with the manipulation of the waves by Mr. J. V. Kyle at his station 2AX, Aokautere. Mr. Kyle, after receiving the orchestral concert sent out from the Dunedin Exhibition on a wave length of 370 metres, retransmitted it on a wave length of 120 metres. Other wireless sets tuned to 120 metres were able to pick up Mr. Kyle’s relay without difficulty, the music coming in clearly.
A further link in the chain was forged by Mr. G. N. Crozier. of Frederick street, who passed the music on to the “Times ’ office by 'phone. Similar experiments with the Auckland broadcasting station were equally successful.
Palmerston North wireless enthusiasts were able to hear Dunedin direct, but the relaying of music is essential foi owners of small receiving sets.
