At yesterday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Citizens Lunch Club, Mr G. G. Hancox, the speaker of the day, dropped a broad hint about the provision of scholarships at the Palmerston North Technical school. At question time the president (Mr W. A. Waters), said: “Supposing the Club decided to make a grant for a scholarship, would it carry a Government subsidy? Only supposing, mind you.” (laughter.) Mr Hancox: “If the Government adheres to its past policy, such a donation would be subsidised.” Mr Waters: "To what extent.”
