INEQUALITIES AND HANDICAPS. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, July ,12. The conference of British Commonwealth women, at which women’s organisation in the overseas Dominions are well represented, discussed the inequalities of the marriage laws of the Dominions and adopted a resolution demanding- that the Dominions legislate along the lines of the resolution adopted by the House of Commons enabling British women to make deductions in cases of marriages with aliens: also protesting against the loss of status of women from other parts of the Commonwealth on entering South Africa and the province of Quebec, and calling on the Governments of those countries to grant woman suffrage. Other resolutions were adopted demanding economic equality for women, legislation providing for equal pay for equal work, the removal o$ the obstacles against the employment of married women, and also the basing of protective legislation upon the nature of the work and not upon the sex.

Th P Commowealth League is a new body under the secretaryship of Miss Collinson, of Australia., the idea of which is to collaborate with overseas women’s organisations to advance the women’s standpoint.
