ANNIVERSARY OF RIOTS IN GLASGOW. ORANGE AND GREEN MIX IT THOROUGHLY. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.! [Aust and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Monday 7 p.m) LONDON. July 12. One hundred and fifty were injured including two policemen, and fifty wore arrested as the result of florae riots n the Shcttieson district, Glasgow Sinn Feinors, shouting, “Tear down their banners!” attacked 40,000 Orangemen in a procession in celebration of the anniversary of the battle of the Boyne (July 12th, 1690). The Orangemen replied with a bombardment of beer bottles and brickbats. Hundreds of partisans belaboured each other with be-ribboned shillalahs. Bands used their instruments and women fought savagely. A large force of mounted and foot police dispersed the combatants, and conducted the Injured to the hospital. After that, the procession was carried on, with an exchange of missiles all along the route.
Orangeman subsequently visited the Sinn Fein colony and bombarded the windows of the houses on which the Sinn Fein flag was flying, women screaming vituperations, while the streets wore filled with free fights. iA. mob boarded the trams and hurled stones from the top decks. Hundreds of windows were broken. The police repeatedly charged with batons.
The fight continued all night at Gurngad, where a man was wounded by a revolver shot.
