POLICE COURT.
OBSTRUCTING A CONSTABLE. At the Police Court yesterday a man named Davidson appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., charged with drunkenness, and obstructing a police constable in the execution of his duty. Mr. A. M. Ongley pleaded guilty to both counts on behalf of defendant. The offence was quite a mild one, and he had later gone to the police and apologised for his conduct. Counsel asked that these things be taken Into cons - ' deration. Senior-Sergeant O’Grady stated that Constable Ebbett had asked defendant if he owned a car which had been standing outside the hotel for half-an-hour. When the constable asked the name o his companion, defendant advised him not to comply and pushed the constable aside. Mr. Stout: “There was no actual bodily harm ?” The Senior-Sergeant: "Oh no, defendant just pushed him aside.” Defendant was fined 5/-, on the first count and 40/- on the second.
