In the first round of the women's singles, Mrs. Bridge defeated Mrs. Melody 6—3, 6—o. Mrs. Melody won the first two games, then Mrs. Bridge developed a strong game, scoring many accs and from overhead smashes. Miss McKano defeated Miss Storry, in the second round, Miss Boyd defeated Miss Hardie, and Miss Akhurst defeated Mrs. Weston. The South African Spence defeated Wheatley 6—2, 6 —2, B—6. Miss Ryan defeated' Miss Brown and Madame Billout defeated Mrs. Lycett.
