CAMPAIGN FOR FUNDS.
SUCCESSFUL CARD PARTY. The campaign to raise funds for comfort for the patients at the Palmerston North Hospital was advanced a stage further last evening when a very successful card party was held in Messrs Collinson and Cunninghamo’s tea rooms. Over 150 people attended. Tho euchre tournament was contested by fifty players, and resulted in Miss Yeoman winning the ladies’ prize, while Mr A. Bennett was awarded the gentlemen’s trophy. The consolation prizes were given to Mrs Daniel and Mr Spinley. There were ten tables for tho bridge contest, and the winner of the ladies’ section proved to be Mrs R. P, Abraham, with Mr R. Hewitt gaining the gentlemen’s prize. Fifty players competed in tho 800 tourney, but owing to the lateness of the hour when this competition was completed, the winners were not ascertained. Mah Johngg, whist and poker were also played, but of course, no competitions in those games were organised. Mrs Pascal donated a beautifully dressed doll, which will bo used on Hospital Day, for collecting pennies. As a result of the function, f.IS 14/was netted.
