HOCKEY.
TOPICS OF THE WEEK. The regular weekly meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr. J. L. C. Aitchison presiding. A letter w-as received from the parent body, forwarding particulars and conditions' relating to the match Australia v. Manawatu. —It was decided to write, asking that the amount of the guarantee (£35) bo deducted from tho gross proceeds of the match. It was left in the hands of the selection committee to nominate to tho parent body Manawatu players for the New Zealand team. It was decided to ask the Mayor, in company with citizens to meet tho Australian players upon arrival at the Palmerston North railway station. A recommendation was made to the ladies’ executive to make arrangements for the entertainment of the Ruahino ladies on July 15. All players are required on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 6.30 sharp for field practice at the Sportsground, also on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Sportsground at 7 p.m. for physical training. Full attendances are requested. Fixtures for the Week. Wednesday: Ladies: H.S.O.G. v. Foxton at I’almerston N. 3 p.m., Mr. Cousins; W.E.O.G. v. Technical 0.G., No. 1 ground, 2.30 p.m., Mr. Aitchison. Men: Phoenix v. C. and C., No. 3 ground, 3 p.m. Messrs Nasmith and Tozer; Five-a-side: P.N. A v. P.N. B, No. 4 ground, 3 p.m. Mr. Inkpen. Saturday.—H.S.O.G. v. Ramblers A, Mr. Amos: Bunnythorpe v. T.O.G. at Bunnythorpe, Mr. Milne; W.E.O.G. v. P.ongotca at Rongotea, Mr. Harvey; Technical v. Ramblers B, Mr. Matthews. ’ Thursday.—High School competition: Kruterl v. Central, Mr. Crump; Rangers v. Rovers, Mr. Burgess.
