FOXTON SCHOOL.
[From Our Own Correspondent] At a special meeting of the Foxton School committee on Friday evening, the deputation appointed to wait on the Education Board in regard to money collected some time ago on which a subsidy had not been collected, reported that the committee would benefit to the extent of £166 5/10. The chairman complimented the secretary (Rev. W. Walton) and the headmaster (Mr F. A. Mason), on behalf of the committee, and said the thanks of the public in general were due to them. It was decided to endeavour to establish a dental clinic at the school. District High School. The secretary reported that Foxton had been conditionally granted a District High School. The condition was that a guarantee be obtained of an attendance of 35 children. It was decided that the secretary and headmaster make arrangements for the establishment of a District High School, and to visit District High Schools, with a view to getting the guarantee forms filled in. It was decided to obtain tenders for the installation of electric light at the school.
The matter of obtaining more land for playing ground was left in the hands of the chairman (Mr M. E. Perreau.) The iron fence between Ihakara gardens and the school grounds is to be removed, leaving the hedge. It was decided to ask the Board’s architect to visit the school with a view to obtaining a plan for the laying down of concrete paths, and the carrying out of necessary work, erection of seats, etc., at the schools
