WAIRARAPA DEFEATED. MANAWATU RETAINS WILSON CUP. Contrary to general expectation, the Manawatu players managed to ward off a keen attack by a strong team from the Wairarapa Golf Club. The surprise of the day was the decisive win by Ekstedt over J. C. Bidwill, the latter usually playing the better of tho two in their matches. It will be remembered that they fought out the final in the last annual tournament, J. C. Bidwill securing tho championship. However, Saturday was Ekstedt’s day, he was playing very brilliant golf, going round In even fours (72) and his opponent, though playing well had no chance. The other surprise was the defeat of J. Martin by S. W. Rapley, the' Wairarapa man was playing very well and it was a great match, but Rapley is a very hard man to beat, and deserves credit for his game, seeing that it was only at the last minute that he knew ho would have to play. J. E. Lewis being unable to take on his engagement. In the Wilson Cup matches, Collinse was the only one to win his game for Wairarapa. He is in very good form and put in 78 whilst MacMillan was not at his best. L. Seifert is one of the most consistent match players we have, and in tho opinion of “The 19th Hole" should play No. 2, Hutchison, is another great match player, who should be higher up. Outside the Cup matches, B. Keiller defeated J. W. Card and B. Bendall with Keiller, defeated Campbell Pearce and Card. The result of tho Wilson Cup matches was: Manawatu 4i, Wairarapa IJ. In the grand total of the inter-club matches, singles and four bad? Inclusive, Manawatu was BJ, and Warrarapa 2). Bidwill and Collins had a great match with Ekstedi and MacMillan, winning, 2 and 1. The results were as follow; — Wairarapa being mentioned first: — Wilson Cup. Bidwill lost to A. Ekstedt, D. C. Collins defeated W. MacMillan, K. Duncan lost to L. Seifert, E. Nicolaus halved with A. Seifert, J. E. Fenwick lost to H. Hutchison, J. Martin lost to S. W. Rapley. OTHER MATCHES. J. W. Card lost to B. Keiller, Bidwill and Collins defeated Ekstedt and MacMillan, K. puftcan and Nicolaus lost to L. and A. Seifert S. E. Pen-

wick and J. Martin lost to H. Hutchlsori and Rapley, Cam. Pearce and J. •W. Card lost to B. Bendall and B. Keiller. Bogtey Competition. In the Bogey Competition, very few cards returned, rather surprising as it was an ideal golfing day. W. Strang was the winner with the very good card of three up, H. G, Bagnall coming second with one up. Members will not carry out instructions and put down their handicap on their card, the scorer should see this is done before chocking and signing as correct. Some players go one better and do not even trouble to enter their names on the card, thus causing a regular "Crossword” of It for the secretary. The best cards put in were: W. Strang, handicap 8, 3 up; H. G. Bagnali, handicap 6, X up; B. Bendall, handicap G, all square; H. Cooper’s partner handicap 4, (player’s name not shown, all square; W. L. Fltzherbert, handicap 5, 1 down; R. P. Abraham, handicap 6,2 down; R. G. Moore, handicap 3, 3 down. Members who really do want .to play at Wanganui next Sunday and have neglected to enter their names on list at Links, are requested jto advise the secretary at once.
