SHIPPING FREIGHTS
OWNERS REFUSE REDUCTION. AUSTRALIAN PORT CHARGES. LONDON, Dec. 6 The shipowners have refused the overtures made by M. A. *H. H assail, of the Australian Meat Council, to reopen the question of making- a reduction in freights on produce from Australia. Nearly in November (ho shipowners, in refusing a. reduction, said that they were losing money owing to the high port charges in Australia, especially stevedoring. In answer to Mr Hassan, the shipowners declined to state I lie percent - ages of Slate Federal charges and their total earnings.
