SANTA CLAUS AT WILLARD HOME

Yesterday was quite an event amongst the children of the Willard Home when by the courtesy of Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame, a real live Santa Claus visited the home and distributed presents to the children from a well-laden Christmas tree. The many friends of the children had been lavish in their gifts and in consequence the tree was decked with a great variety of presents and the tables were spread with many good things which caused something of a sensation as the possibilities of the occasion unfolded themselves. The ladies of the board of management were present and gave an air of benevolence to the occasion, some of the subscribers showed their interest by their presence, the staff were indefatigable in their efforts on behalf of all, and the children were uproarious in proclaiming Santa Claus equal to the best traditions. Apologies were received amongst others, from the Mayor and Mayoress, from Mr and Mrs J. A. Nash, M.P., and Mr and Mrs E. R. B. Holben (of All Saints’ Home Committee), all of whom were out of town.

Presentations to the members of the staff with cordial expressions of appreciation of the work done during the year brought the occasion to a happy ending.
