AMERICANS BADLY BEAT BRITISHERS. NINE EVENTS TO TWO AT HARROW., [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z, Cable Association.] (Received Sunday, 7 p.m.) LONDON, July 26. At Harrow baths, in a contest between the Olympic swimmers of the British Empire and the United States, America’beat Britain by nine events to two. The men’s 440 yards resulted:—Charlton 1, Smith (America) 2, Howell (America) 3. Won easily in 5,33. The Empire’s other victory was in the ladies’ furlong breast-stroke won by Miss Carson (England) in Smin. 39sec. The 110 yards resulted;—Weismuller 1, Henry Duke Kahanamoku 3. Won by two yards in 61 l-ssec. In the 440 yards ladies’ race, Miss Ravoir (the American) defeated Misses Shand and Molesworth (England). Won by four yards in Smin 40 4-ssec. In the half-mile team race (four over a furlong), America beat the Empire team, including Christie and Bcaurepaire, easily in JOmin 39 4-ssec. In the ladies’ 440 yards team race (four over 110 yaras) America beat the Empire, including Miss Shand, by two yards in Smin “° n LONDON. July 26. Eve had an easy victory in the national graceful diving champion ship of England, whining with 1591 points compared with Knights, the Englishman, 136.
