Mr S. G. Raymond, K.C., the wellknown Christchurch barrister, has been appointed chairman of the Pensions Appeal Board, in succession to Mr Justice Chapman. Mr Raymond left to-night for Wellington to take over his duties, states a Press Association telegram. A Gisborne message reports the death of Dr John Craig, one time medical Superintendent of the Gisborne Hospital and subsequently of Auckland battery. He practised at Gisborne, and was Major in Featherston Camp, and on the troopships. He leaves a widow and grown up son, living at Mangapapa. Enquiry at the Hospital late last night elicited the information that Mr J. B. Proud, hon. secretary of the Manawatu Rugby Union, who was injured in the Arepeti Hill motor-car accident on Sunday morning, was progressing satisfactorily. The result of the X-ray examination made in the afternoon will not be available until this morning. The extent of 'Mr Proud’s injuries would appear to be confined-to a couple of broken ribs, some bad bruises and a few scratches. Dressmakers’ models on stands for home dressmakers in all sizes, are only 59s 6d from Colllnson and Cunninghame’s. With one of these your troublesome fitting and measuring ara lessened, while skirt lengths and evenness at the toot ar problems assolved.
