PARAGRAPHS.

It is announced that Earl Haig does not intend to visit Australia in 1925, and never had any intention to do so. Mr A. K. Harris, district traffic manager at Auckland, passed through Palmerston North yesterday, bound for Wellington. .

The Hon. Downie . Stewart, accompanied by Miss Stewart and Dr. Valintine, passed through Palmerston North yesterday by the Auckland express, en route to Rotorua.

Major Bell, of the Palmerston North branch of the Defence Office, has be>m transferred 1 to Dunedin, and will leave Palmerston North at the end of the month. -Major Sandle, of Auckland, will arrive next week to take Major Bell's place.

Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., of Wellington, has been permanently stationed at Auckland, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M. His place on the Wellington Bench probably Will be taken by Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, recently Chief Judge of Samoa.

At a meeting of directors of the Dunedin Exhibition Company last night, Mr. H. S. Spenee, at present holding the position of Collector of Customs, was appointed exhibition secretary, at a salary of £7OO per annum, his duties to commence on November I.—Press Association. Mr. G. C. Harris, of Pegdcn's, Ltd., Palmerston North, and Mrs. Harris will shortly leave for Auckland, Mr. Harris having been granted ' six months' leave in which to recruit his health. As a slight token of appreciation fqr his work in connection with the prayer meetings for young people of Cuba-street Methodist Church, at a social evening last night, Mr. I. K. Rickard, on behalf of the young people, presented him with a fountain pen. Holiday specials, ladies' cotton crepe bloomers of excellent shape, e'astlc waist and knee, white, sky or saxe, 4/11.
