APITI.

(From our own Correspondent.) What could easily have been a very •serious accident happened on the river hill on Thursday morning. As the two, little sons of Mr. Bartlctt were riding to. school, mounted on a quiet old pony, ■ they were met by the factory lorry, which collided with them in some unaccountable way, with the result that the pony's leg was broken in three places, and one little boy recftyed slight injuries to his leg and face, while the smaller one escaped unhurt The loss of the pony is a serious one, as the children have a long distance to ride to school, and a reliable pony is a very great asset on , these hilly and winding roads. Quite undaunated by the mishap, the little fellows were determined not to miss school, and were brought on by the " 'Manawatu Times" carrier in his side-car. Our early morning newspaper service thus proves a benefit in more ways than one. The mission services at the Presbyterian Church are being very well attended, considering the inclemency of the weather. It is confidently expected that a larger building will be necessary for the Sunday services, which will be held in the afternoon and evening.
