The New Zealand Council of th c Pig Breeders' Association met yesterday morning, those present being Messrs. N. P. Neilson (president), F. W. Cornwall, W. H. Jacob, and James Macfarland.
A letter was read from Mr. R. Chilcott, Hamilton, suggesting that a return be obtained from each member giving the list of boars and brood sows on hand each year.—Received, suggestion not adopted, as the necessary information is in the Herd Book.
Mr. A. W. Green, Ruakura, sent a letter of appreciation for the framed address sent to him.
'.•Mr. C. H. Dallard, secretary of the South Island branch, invited the Council to be represented at the Christchureh show, to address the members of the association in the South Island. —The president proposed that the secretary be asked to represent the association at tho Christchureh show, saying that the enthusiaslic South lslund branch should be encouraged. Mr. Cornwall had pleasure in seconding ',the motion, which was carried.
Mr. T. Bloor, Sunnyside, in a letter apologising for inability to attend thc meeting, drew attention to th'i fact that Mr. Gorringe, Government Inspector, was advocating the breeding of crossbred pigs for export of bacon as against purebreds, particularly the Berkshire breed. He had met Mr.. Gorringe, who explained that he was advocating the crossbreds in preference to Tarns, as the English ma.rket to-day wanted a long, lean side of bacon.—The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr. Gorringe on the matter. It was pointed out that New Zealand was interested in the export of pork, and the Berkshire • was the best pork pig. Eleven new members were elected to the association.
The secretary reported tlint financially the association was in a very sound position. The following motion was adopted.
"That in \iew of malpratiee reported by the South Isiand branch a certain named membe ■ be expolloj from the iP'iociation under rule 13, an. 1 iha*
