BOWLING, CROQUET AND TENNIS.
TAKAR.O CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. The Takaro Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club held its annual meeting last night in the now pavilion. The president (Mr H. B. Free) occupied the chair, and there was a largo attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet, already published, was adopted. In speaking to the report, the president said the club had accomplished wonders through the zeal and activity of the members. It was specially indebted to Mr H. Cooper, who was secretary in the early stages, but had been unable to retain the office, owing to illness. Mr W. J. Newdick had been particularly valuable in directingthe activities of the members in building the pavilion. The president paid a to- the loyalty of the members who had paid their subscriptions last year without getting a chance to hit a ball. New members were elected as follow:—Tennis: Mesdames J. T. McDonald, F. Cousins, Weevers, Flinty and E. L. Bott ;Messrs. J. W. Mayo, B.* Flint, H. M. Heath, W. C. Harrington, and A. Hume, Misses N. and R. A. Nocdl, T. Randell, and E. and F. Mayo. Croquet: Mesdames G. B. Flint, R. Noedl and Nicholson. Bowling:. Messrs. Callaghart, T. Mitchell, Carruthers and Nicholson,
ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The election of officers resulted:Patron: Mr A. Sutherland; president: Mr H. B. Free; vice-presidents: Messrs A. Clark, W. Richardson, and A. Cooksley; secretary: Mr L. Griorgi; treasurer: Mr W. Mundy: committee: Mrs. R. Carruthers, and Mr G. G. Hancox (croquet); Messrs J. B. Morgan and M. Newth (bowling) ; Mrs H. B. Free and Mr A. Roe (tennis); auditor: Mr T. Arlidge; delegate to bowling Centre, Mr G. H. Trott; green superintendent: Mr Morgan. Mrs W. Mundy was appointed to convene a meeting of ladies to elect a ladies* committee. GENERAL.
A letter was received from the Northern Club, extending an invitation to its opening day.—Accepted. It was decided that the opening day be held on Saturday, September 29, and that the Borough councillors, the curator (Mr F. Black) and kindred clubs be Invited.
Messrs. Trott, Morgan, and the secretary were appointed a sub-com-mittee to draw up .rules for the bowling l section, to be forwarded to the Manawatu Centre. A vote.of thanks was carried to Mr Grant Sim for his services as auditor in the absence of Mr Arlidge. Mr A. Roe asking if the Borough Council intended leaving the footpath in its present state. He suggested that it should be properly formed, with a strip of grass on one side. The chairman agred that the path was quite impracticable. It was decided that a resolution be sent to the Borough Council asking that the path be constructed.
