MacNELLYS LITTLE SCHEME. (Per !-''i - eHS Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night, Herbert Harold Mac Nelly's schenio of obtaining money for advertisement's on the "School Journal" covers, by falsely representing that he had authority from the Education Department for the sole rights of such advertising, was recit'ed at the Magistrate's Court this morning, when the accused appeared on remand lor sentence in connection with three charges of false pretences.
The police said accused set his sdhemo in motion in Auckland in January last, setting up that' he had sole rights from the Department of advertising on the "Scho.ol Journal" covers, and obtained various sums from the business people in the Auckland education district'. His printed receipts and bills showed that he claimed to have sole rights from the Education Department. In March last he came to Taraiiaki and canvassed the Strafford and New Plymouth dis. tri'cts, similarly receiving money for advertisements.
The sentence of tho Court was throe months' imprisonment upon each of tho charges, ono of which would be cumulative on the present' term being served.
