At cricket, England, 206 and 122 for five wickets, defeated the rest of England, 205 and 123. Tho bowlers again had tho upper hand. Tate took two for 8, and Kilncr two for 9, Woolley two. Cor 23, and Giliigan two for 39, the last-named bowling Makepeace with tho first ball of tho innings. Mac. Bryan was dismissed at three, and Stevens for seven runs. Mead had a ‘‘pair of spectacles,” and Hcndrcn made only one, after his duck in the first innings. Woolley made 40, and Fender 34 not out.
Essex, ISI and 253 for 7, defeated Northants, 126 and 45. Dougins took five wickets for 55, and six for 14. Yorkshire, 233, defeated Glamorgan, 110 and 89. Robinson took four wickets for 30, and four for 22, Rhodes took three for 37 and five ■ for 26. Worcester, 108 and 229 for four wickets (Pearson 103, no.f out), defeated Sussex, 113 and 120. Derbyshire, 240, drew with Notts, 144 for 5 wickets, Lancashire, 131 and 362 for 9, declared (Watson 131), drew with Hampshire, 263 and 88 for 5.
