It was stated by Mr J. H. Stevens, at the meeting of fhc Council of - Chamber of Commerce last night, that he had been informed by Mr J. A. Nash, M P that the flax industry would receive assistance from the Government towards the furtherance of experiments in connection with that U “This' is very gratifying,” observed Mr Stevens, “as this industry is an important one in this district. _
