ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
MEETING IN NEW PREMISES. The first mooting of the ManawatuOroua Hydro-Electric Power Board in th»> new premises \vaa hei'd yesterday in fhe commodious board-room. There were present, Messrs J. A. Nash, M.l'. (chairman), sir .lames Wilson, .1. Morrison, .1. S. Tlngcy. .1. H. Vincent, 11. 11. Hunt, P. .1. Small, l<\ W_ Arbon, and S. U. Lancaster. Before commencing with (lie ordinary business, Mr Nash congratulated the Board on the very excellent board-room secured. These "sentiments were shared by the members present, CORRESPONDENCE. From the consulting engineer, asking lor certain technical details in connection with the bulk supply from the Palmcrston North Borough Council. —Recoivcd, From Mr L. Birlcs, staling that the Martun sub-station would be about five miles from YVakariki Freezing Works, and that it, Vi Hild appear to be more economical to supply from there than from Bunnytho.rpe, and asking for an opinion, Mr Waters (the Board's engineer), said he had replied, stating that arrangements liucl been made to have n supply to Wakariki when the freezingi works re-opened.—Tho reply was con-; firmed. ACCOUNTS. The statement Qf accounts Tor July. ! L 923, showed loan money received and | interesl accrued, Public Trustee, £90,279 17/2; expenditure of loan, £4:i,-| {oat; 16/1; total credit £46,374 1/1. I Loan Recount, credit, £6094 3/11; Public Trustee, credit. £40.279 17/2; total, £46.374 1/1. Contractors' deposits, credit. ESS6 5/. Accounts amounting to £4,299 16/7 were passed for payment. ENGENE ER' S REPO RT. Tho engineer (Mr W, A. Waters)! reported that during the month a truck and trailer had arrived from Wellington, and they had commenced carting out poles at once. Those had been distributed along the route of the I i.ooo volt feeder. Bunnythorpo to Palmerston North, and the whole outien was working well. In a few days |he hoped to have the power-driven winch lltted on the truck, so that the truck engine will also load the | poles. Work had now been started erecting poles on the same route, land as soon as circumstances permitted they would split the existing gang into two gangs, and finally into four gangs, to expedite tho work, with a similar number of gangs putting up the wires. This, of course, could not lie done until the present gang were thoroughly initiated into their duties. The canvas of the Whakaronga block had been practically completed, and the response had been almost unanimous. There were only three who had definitely refused to take the light. Several others were in abeyance, meantime, pending owners' dc-, j cisions in cases where the occupier; was a lease-holder giving up in a few months. I Varous tenders had been let -for, 1 motors, transformers, etc., and. speci-1 locations had been issued for installations. — Adopted.
