LAUSANNE DEADLOCK.

TIME FOR BUSINESS. GREEKS REFUSE TO PAY INDEMNITY. WOULD SOONER GO TO WAR. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Thursday, 8 p.m.) LAUSANNE, May 16. Sir Horace Rumbold emphasised the importance of speeding up the work of the conference, and urged upon the Turks that the moment had arrived when they could do practical business. The Aides, having made all possible concessions, will now confront the Turks with the questions left in dispute. The Graeco-Turkish deadlock, due to Greece's resolutely refusing to pay reparations to Turkey, continues to cause anxiety. The Greeks state that they prefer to recommence the war in the Maritza.

Sir Horace Rumbold had a long interview with Ismet, also with MM. Venizelos and Alexandris, who are not disposed to leave the matter open indefinitely. It is understood the Greek delegates aro instructed to leave Lausanne immediately if the Conference endorses Turkey's claim. A RUSSIAN ARRESTED. IN CONNECTION WITH M. VOROWSKY’S DEATH.
