PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS.

Mr J. Young, traffic manager for Wanganui, passed through Palmerston, yesterday, bound for Wanganui. The casket containing the mortal remains of the late Rev. A. Doull, M.A., of Palmerston North arrived from the south by the Auckland express yesterday. Mr T. H, Murison, locomotive engineer from Wellington, who is on a tour of inspection, passed through Palmerston North yesterday on his way to Wanganui.

Messrs. T. R. Barrer and C. C. Jack-son have been elected to represent the Masterton branch of the Farmers’ Union at the Provincial Conference at Palmerston North next week.

Mr. J. Carter, manager of the Hamilton branch of the Union Bank of Australia, has received notice of his promotion to Palmerston North. Mr. J. E. Page, of Dargaville, is to succeed Mr. Carter at Hamilton. The New Zealand Superintendent of Dalgefy and Co. Ltd., has been notified that Mr Lionel Speakman, late general manager of the Furness Railway, has been appointed manager of the London office of the company, and Mi- Arthur Melbourne Du Croz, London produce manager, has been appointed sub-manager.

Mr A. Kilgour, a prominent member of th e Manawatu X.A. and Cycling Club will shortly take his departure for Dunedin, to rejoin the Commonwealth Bank of Australia thgre. He was yesterday the recipient of a case of military hair brushes from his fel-low-workers m the “Standard” clerical staff, of which Mr Kilgour has beon for the past two years.

A. very pleasant function took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall at Bulls where a farewell social was tendered to Mr. Robert Young, who for the past three years had been on the staff of the Rangitikei Dairy Co. Owing to continued ill-health, caused by the effects of his war service, he has been compelled to give up his position and is being admitted to Hanmer Hospital. He was presented with a wallet of notes.
