DR OLIVER’S LECTURES.
- f AT KVF.RVBODY’S THFATRF. f i Dr. French E. Oliver delivered three of ids series of lectures at Everybody’s .Theatre yesterday. Tn the morning, f under ihe title of “Blood of Souls,’’ he I dealt with the duties of a preacher and £ with.the saving of souls. It was not 1 possible- to be, a follower of Christ, and r I not save souls. A charge could be laid I 1 igainst the churches in respect to Hie souls of the people. We were not responsible for saving men, but were re sponsible for warning them. In the afternoon, a special lecture 5 ;or boys and men only was delivered 9 m “ Sex Problems.” WHAT ABOUT HELL ? For his evening lecture, entitled n ‘ What About Hell ? ” Dr. Oliver took j ;hc text. “ How shall wo escape, ir we j. icglect so great Salvation ? ” Neglect of Salvation, the speaker de. dared, was the cause of the damna. j ion of thousands of men and women. salvation was the gift of God, not a na-tcr of good works. How should wo p iscapo if we neglected so great salva- p ion ? The speaker stressed the fact ( if the existence of a personal Devil md a host of fallen angels, demons p ihd evil spirits. When a man threw iver the belief in a personad Devil md the powers of evil, he could no ongar account for crime and crimi. uils. There was a great organised S lower of evil in the world under the "V domination of Satan. Dr. Oliver em. ihasised the existence of a hereafter 2 if outer lark ness as spoken of in the 1 1 ( Jlble and of a lake of fire. Christ sj lad described eternal burnings, outer B arkness and a “ worm that dieth ot.” He had spoken more of these 1' hings than of heaven. Let the people 9. eclare for the word of God and the fc Loss of Christ. Those who accepted he word of God would have a heaven- / resting place beyond the sun with S< odies indestructible. Those who re. R mted the Word would also have bod. 4! is indestructible, but subject to eter B al torment.. Hell was a place of out- vi r darkness and eternal fire.
