EXPLOSION - OX CHITSEU. [By Electric Cable —Copyright] fAust and N.Z. Cable Association.,! (Received Sunday, 7 pan.) LONDON, March 9. ;A torpedo exploded aboard the cruiser Coventry at Gibraltar. There were six victims, of whom three arc dead. The cause of the explosion is not stated. CHINESE KILLED IN ROAD COLLISION. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night.. A fatal accident occurred at Man. gore on Saturday night, when a Chinese, Chong Kwei Kee, aged 33 years, was killed in a, collision, between a bicycle he was riding and a motor, car. Deceased was a Mangero resi. dent. SUDDEN DEATH IN CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. William N. Ward, aged 70 years, a bricklayer's labourer, dropped dead in Latimer Square this afternoon. He had been under a doctor’s care for heart disease. UNKNOWN WOMAN FALLS FROM TRAIN, CHRISTCHURCH. Last Night. A middle.aged woman passenger on the second express from Ashburton last night fell off the platform of the train at Heathcote Valley and was killed instantly, but has not yet been identified. The luggage shows the , name Miss Beftnetts, and bears Ash- ; burton and a'so Carterton labels. A presentation brooch found on the body bore the name of Fifield. There arc indications that the woman was a school teacher. STARVED TO DEATH—IN AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Last Night. An old man, James Glennie Max. well, who had lived among stacked , timber on the waterfront for two years was removed to hospital and died j there, evidently from starvation.
