EARTHQUAKES.

LECTURE BY LEADING AUTHORITY. Always more or less a live subject in New Zealand the problem of earthquakes has come into unusual prominence during the past, few weeks by the sensational happenings In the Taupo district. The Lectures Committee of the Borough Council is therefore, to be commended for its enterprise in securing for the second lecture of the series on Friday evening next so noted an authority as Dr. Adams. The Government Astronomer made a careful study of the Taupo tremors on the spot, and may therefore be relied on to give the latest scientific information on the subject. He is a most interesting lecturer, and should have a large audience in the Municipal Hall on Friday evening.
