SYSTEMATIC BARBARITIES, THE UNSPEAKABLE TURK AGAIN. A JOINT INVESTIGATION. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Assocation.J (Received Tuesday, 8.0 p.m.) LONDON, May lti. Mr Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, said Lord Curzon had sent the French, Italian and American Government proposals for an immediate joint investigation into grave ciiarges against the Angora Turks of cruelty and barbarity towards Christian minorities in Asia Minor. Mr Chamberlain read the statements of Dr. Ward, of the Near Eastern Relief Commission, stating that the Turks were deliberately planning to exterminate the Christian minorities, herduig Ottoman Greeks into Amasia in such a manner that large numue.rs.died on the roads, on which thousands of dead had been counted. These atrocities had been going on for seven years. Mr Chamberlain added that confirmation had been received of Major Youell's report ttfat Turks had murdered 10,000 Greeks, afterwards seizing their widows and daughters and transferring them to harems.
