THE LICENSING QUESTION
SIFTING OF PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Past Night. The bearing of evidence on behalf iC the National Council of the Licensed Trad" of New Zealand, was continued to-day by the Recess Parliamentary Committee (chairman M. F. F. Kcckly M.P.) was set up lo inquire as to what amendments of the Licensing Act will be necessary should the National No-License fail to be carried in Dacembor next. Evidence was also given by representatives of the Licensed Victuallers' Association of New Zealand, and the Associated Chartered Clubs, while the Rev. .lohn Dairsou (secretary) gave evidence on behalf of the New Zealand Alliance. Counsel appeared for different interests concerned. The sittings of the Committee will be continued to-morrow. Unless a good many more persons notify the chairman of their desire to give evidence, it. is expected that the hearing of the witnesses will be concluded about the middle of the next week.
