The newspapers are indignant at the light sentences imposed on the titled dynamitards concerned in the Schlieffer case, as compared with tho case of the so-called Count Ferry, a Communist, who was sentenced to fifteen years’ imprisonment for attempting to blow up the Victory column in Berlin. ; ’ EX-EMPRESS ZITA. (Received Monday, 7 p.m.) GENEVA, January 22. The ex-Empress Zita has ended her visit to her sick son and is returning to her husband. Elabox - ate precautions have been taken in Switzerland and France to prevent propaganda, though Zita apparently made no attempt at political manoeuvres. LONDON FOGBOUND. (Received Monday, 7 p.m.) LONDON, January 22. Dense fog prevailed during the week-end in London. The busses were unable to run, and only the use of acetylene flares made it possible to run the trams. A collision occurred at New Cross, one tram being telescoped by another. A driver and several passengers were seriously injured. SHIPPING COMBINE. NEW YORK, January 21. The Pacific Coast shipping interests have concluded an agreement whereby each American xiort will participate in a shipping pool to carry on tho trans-Pacific trade as a unit for the benefit of all of them. Negotiations are in progress with the United States Government for the purchase of ships.
