DUNEDIN SENTENCES. ' (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night. Several prisoners were sentenced to-day by Mr Justice Sim. Thomas William Turaatameke Harper, a halfcaSte Maori, was fined £7 for selling chattels given by way of security. Restitution had been made, and the Judge thought accused had acted under a misapprehension. Norman Sutherland and Thomas Alfred Moody, for breaking, entering, and theft, were admitted to probation for three and two years respectively. Don. aid Martin McFardgen, for fraudulently converting to his own use moneys belonging to his employer, W. Ealkind. was sentenced to two years. The prisoner confessed, to having stolen a sum of £515, and the Judge said it appeared he Tiad previously robbed his employer (a moneylender) of £ISOO, and had been forgiven. Leonard Mitchell, 16 years of age, charged with Indecent assault, was ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for 3 years. He was recommended to be sent to the Borstal Institute at Invercargill. Annie Craig, for theft, was admitted to probation for five years, on condition she took out a prohibition order against herself. Robert Hill (an old man), for indecent assault, was ordered to come up for sentence if called on in five years. Albert Victor Dent, for making a false declaration of marriage, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. George Henry Pringle and Robert Milne Stewart, for breaking, entering, and theft, were admitted to probation for -three years, and -were ordered to make restitution of £ll/7/6.
