P. AND T. BALL.
The staff ball of the Palmerston North. Post and Telegraph Department was held in the Empire Hall last night. The function was a brilliant success, and justified the efforts of the promoters in resuscitating such gatherings, last night's ball being the first for many years. The decorative scheme was carried out in ferns and arum lilies, and the effect was most striking. Mr E. Smith's orchestra supplied excellent music. The catering was in the capable hands of Dustin's Ltd. Meadames Glynn, Gowing, Brackenbridge, Walton and Newson were the ehaperones, while the duties of M.-'s C. were carried out by Messrs J. J. Glynn, B. O'Keefe and C. J. O'Brien.
