AN APPRECIATION.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Before leaving Palmerston North, I wish, on behalf of • St. Patrick's College team, to thank you and your reporters for the excellent report of our match v. Auckland Grammar School. Its great quality was its exactness and truth, even*to details. I followed the game closely, and the report brought back the whole game from start to finish. I may say that our whole team considers it the finest report we have had this year. Some papers underrate secondary school games, and send poor reporters, who furnish an account which takes into consideration a few spectacular events, which are the glamour of the game, but not its true, inner play and meaning. Tour reporter has given the public a real account. Last year, we found the same here in Palmerston North. The newspaper reports did us justice. I imagine, too, that our opponents on Saturday would also be satisfied with vour reporter’s exactness and impartiality. I am writing this, feeling that news reports can materially assist all who try to foster our great game.—l am, etc.,. B. J. RYAN, Manager St. Patrick’s College team.
