BOROUGH PROGRESS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The Rugby Union’s expression of disgust over the delay and unsuitableness of the local ambulance is very opportune: it really is a very barbarous affair, but it took an accident to a very esteemed member of the local Hospital Board, who was compelled to use the vehicle recently, to find out the amount of pain and danger caused to one unfortunate enough to require it. Our recent war use of the most eflicient and up-to-date 'of these vehicles should enable us to instal a suitable one here. Another matter of comfort to the citizens. It recently took an illness in hospital to one of our councillors to prove the nuisance of the motor maniac with the open exhaust, and a by-law Was framed to prohibit this, but what of it? We are still disturbed from our sleep by these irresponsibles; further are we waiting for an accident to a local celebrity caused through glaring head-lights before wo wake up to the fact that we should have a by-law*strictly enforced to prevent this very dangerous practice being allowed within the borough,.—l am, etc., DISCIPLINE.
