SHOT ON THE LINKS.

(Received Wednesday, 7.40 p.m.) LONDON, April 6,

Dublin is mystified over the shooting of Fovargue. Dublin Castle issued l a communique on February Ist stating that the prisoner Fovargue, while being conveyed in a military lorry for examination, escaped during an attack on the lorry. Sinn Feiners discredit the Castle story, and state that Fovargue was unknown in connection with the Republican or any other movement in Ireland.

[A London message yesterday said: The Ashford victim has been identified as Vincent Fovargue, a prominent Sinn Feincr, who had been on tho tun for some months. It is evident that death was the outcome of a Sinn Fein vendetta.]

ESDMONDE REMANDED. OTTAWA, April 5. Esmonde spent the night in tho cells, but bail to-day was fixed at £ISOO. Esmonde has been remanded for a week. [Esmonde’s arrest at Vancouver followed on a speech by Mayor Gale to an unemployed deputation. He strongly condemned the recent demonstrations, including the singing of "The Red Flag," and then ordered the police to arrest Esmonde on a charge of sedition contained in a speech. Esmonde was removed to Vancouver/notwithstanding his promise to depart for England immediately he landed.]
