MESOPOTAMIAN BLUNDER.

[By Electric Cable— Copyright.] lAurt. and N.Z. Cable Association.] General Townshend ha,s appealed to the Government to withdraw its enormous force from Mesopotamia, which is a ghastly strategical blunder as we ought to hold Mesopotamia with one division. He had recently discussed tanks with Generals Mangin, Gourand and Castlenau. All thought the day of the tank had passed. The Germans, at the end of the war had found an antidote, by spreading mines in the way of the tank’s advance. The vote was passed. Several members protested against the disbandment of historic regiments including the Twenty-first Lancers, the heroes of the charge of Omdurman.
