The Prime Minister leaves early this morning for Reefton and Westport.
Mr and! Mrs Walter Turner left on a motor trip to Taupo yesterday. They expect to be absent for about a fortnight.
t The Hospital Board yesterday accepted with regret the resignations of sisters M. A. Burgess and Burnett and nurse F. V. Bright from the nursing staff of the hospital. Regret was expressed by members of the Hospital Board yesterday when a letter was received from Dr. W. R. Stowe who wrote stating that he had been temporarily compelled to relinguish his duties in connection with the X-ray department a't the hospital owing to an injury to his foot. The following resignations have been received by the Wanganui Education Board: E. E. Burnett, sole teacher, Aratiko; F. Morris, assistant, Kimbolton; P. D. Chapman, sole teacher, Moawhango; C. A. Symes, sole teacher, Taoroa; W. H. Bowater, assistant, Mangaweka; R. McKelvey, assistant, Rangiotu: F. Mclvor, sole teacher, Ngawaka; M. D. Daniell, second special assistant, Feilding; M. Mitchell, sole teacher, Marohema; H. C. Veitch, pupil teacher, Gonville; A. L. Wilson, director Technical School, Taihape.
Mr W. T. Duckworth, a prominent member of the local Y.M.C.A., and a keen sporting enthusiastic, is leaving Palmerston North shortly for Taihape. At a meeting of the Y.M.C.A. Athletic Chib last night, the president, Mr L. Merton, eulogised the splendid work of Mr Duckworth in the interests of the association. He had been a leading member of the hockey club and was responsible, for the inauguration of the cricket club. His departure would be deeply regretted. Other members added felicitations, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Duckworth for his interest and work for the welfare of the Y.M.C.A. and its sports. „ ■ *
Men's linen collars are being quoted wholesale to-day at 18/- a dozen, but wei'll give 1 a dozen, any brand, for 15/6, half dozen for 8/- and one for 1/6. Sox and handkerchiefs are equally reduced for quantity orders: Men's cashmere sox 3/6 pair, 3 pairs for 8/11 or 6 pairs for 17/6.
