SUGAR STRIKE SETTLED.
44 noun week granted. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Past Night. The Arbitration Court has died an award in the sugar workers' dispute, and has granted the Union a 4 4-hojir week, with a minimum wage of t‘4. The award is only tor six months, as tlie Court is not satisfied that it has been fully informed of the nature and character of the work. The Court lias grave doubts about reducing the week’s work to 44 hours, but in view of the Union’s assurance that the output will not be reduced it has agreed to the proposal. 1 ,ater. The Sugar Workers’ Union considered tlie award of the Arbitration Court to-night, and after a protracted discussion, decided -to declare the strike off and to return to work in a body on Monday.
