(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr \V. Younger, who has sold his farm to Mr w. J. Viles, held a clearing- sale on Monday last, when practically everything put under the hammer found buyers at rattling good prices. The trial representative football match. North v. Houth, was played at Kimbolton on Wednesday last and after a real good game South were victorious by 6 to 3. M. Seccker and M. Nesdale scored tries for South, while D. McNae kicked a penalty goal for North. Mr Hessiltine, of Kimbolton, controlled the game. At the conclusion of the game the selectors, Messrs A. Stackhouse, N. Shannon, D. Cooper and N. S. McLeod, selected the following team to represent Oroua Sub-Union against Manawatu B at FeUding on Saturday next: Full-back, W. Duncan (Apiti); three-quarters, F. Nesdale. M. Seccker and W. Goodin (Kimbolton); five-eighths, D. McNae (Apiti), Roy Shannon, captain (Waituna); half, D. Marshall (Waituna); wing forward, L. Eggers (Waituna); forwards, J. Deroles, D. Thompson and C. Hancock ( Rangiwahia), N. Short (Waituna), J. Cantwell, K. Brough and W. Allan (Apiti). Emergencies: Back, J. Boddy (Apiti); forward, W. Guylee (Waituna). Cup matches under this Union were advanced another stage on Saturday, when Apiti visited Rangiwahia. Apiti won the toss and kicked off with the Whites (Rangiwahia) facing the sun. The play was very even for the first half-hour, the Greens (Apiti) then gained the advantage, and from a loose forward rush N. Gould picked up the leather and touched down. From a scrum near the line R. Boddy secured and scored wide out. No goal resulted. Immediately afterwards the Whites were penalised near the goal, and this time D. McNae made no mistake with the kick. The Whites then began a rally to their opponents’ goal, and the Greens being penalised, W. Gibbons kicked a nice goal. 9 —3. Inspired by their success the Whites again swamped down to their line and C. Hancock dived over, no goal resulting. 9 —6. J. Cantwell headed a forward rush with J. Boddy in attendance, on the former over-running the ball, Boddy dribbled half the length of the field and scored a great try; McNae kicked a poster, making the score, Apiti 12, Rangiwahia 6. Mr Hinkley ably controlled the game. Kimbolton visited Waituna and suffered defeat, the home team winning by 4 points to nil. Waituna now lead for the championship with 6 points, Apiti and Kimbolton lying handy with 5 points each. Mr and Mrs B. Watersen left last week for New Plymouth, where they intend spending a short holiday.. The Apiti Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., held their fortnightly meeting on Saturday, Bro. Thos. Nix, N.G., presiding. At the conclusion of the meeting the members adjourned to supper. A euchre tournament is to be played with Masonic Lodge shortly. Mr Noel Oxnam, of Umutoi, held a successful clearing sale at his farm on Thursday.

On Saturday local girls will play a return hockey match with the Kimbolton girls, at Kimbolton. In football, the chief interest will centre in the Manawatu B v. Oroua Sub-Union match to be played at Feilding. Mr and Mrs John Malone, who have resided in the district for a number of years, were the recipients of a travelling rug and a case of pipes respectively from their local friends, on their departure for Feilding. Influenza is still prevailing in the district, but shows signs of improvement everywhere. Mr and Mrs D. Malone returned home on Saturday last after spending an extensive holiday in the Auckland district.
