MANAWATU RUGBY UNION

WEEKLY MEETING.

The Manawatu Rugby Union met last evening. Present: Messrs A. M. Ongley (presiding), D. P. Jones H. E. Bennett, W. Harris, J. B. Proud, J. R. Hardie, J. Carruthers J. A. Colauhoun, J. Devine and C. White. It was decided that the Union inform the Council that footballers under its jurisdiction were not responsible for the Sunday playing about which comnlaints had been lodged. —It was greed to grant transfers to junior grade of several players from last year's Pirate B team.—The Oroua Sub-Union notified that white jerseys would be its colours in the representative game against Manawatu B on Saturday next.—lt was decided, therefore, that Manawatu "B" should play in maroon jerseys.—lt was agreed to play the representative game against Dannevirke on the dates decided upon, July 7th and July Hist.—The Hawke's Bay Union solicited a date for a game between its touring team and Manawatu, at Palmcrston North. It was decided to forward provisional dates for the game, and agree to give the visitors half the takings. The Taranaki Union accepted the proposed date for a match with Manawatu at Stratford on sth August—it was decided that three Jackeytown players, who had been caught committing a nuisance around the grounds, should be suspended for three weeks, and called upon to apologise to the Union. —It was decided also that the penalty should in future be made considerably heavier. A letter from the Feilding Schools A.A. Association, seeking grants for football among Feilding and a * st " ct primary schools, was referred to the primary schools' committee of the Union for consideration. —The payment of insurance fees for two injured plavers was deferred for a week pending "further formal information on the insurance scheme.—lt was decided to complain about the neglect in marking the grounds at Feilding and to suggest that the grounds be marked in a permanent manner m trenching the touch and centre lines. —lt was resolved to grant the Feilding plavers in the "A" rep. team 7/ expenses for travelling between Feilding and. Palmerston North and to make arrangements for talcing tlie "B" team to Feilding on Saturday by moton lorry.—Mr Hardie was appointed manager for the team to travel to Levin, and Mr White manager for the rep. team at Feilding.— It was decided to play no thirdsrade matches on the 26th inst., during a Public Service entrance examination. —It was resolved that the parents and schoolmasters of the boys caught stealing in the dressingsheds at the Showgrounds should be written to urging that they punish the boys, and informing them that the I offenders would not be allowed on the grounds again this season.-—lt was decided that in future all junior and third-grade matches should be concluded before 3 o'clock. —It was decided to endeavour to secure green and white-hooped jerseys in time for next season's rep. matches, and Mr H.

E Bennett was empowered to make enquiries into the matter. —It was reported that H. Stewart was not available for the "A" rep. game on Saturday, and his place will therefore be taken by Eglinton. The team will leave for Levin by the 12 tram on Saturday. Any player unable to make the trip is requested to notify the manager (Mr Hardie) immediately.—Mr Dustin was elected captain of the Manawatu "A" reps, to plav Horowhenua, and E. Hoclrler was elected captain lor the "B' reps, against Oroua. „„.,,.-, POSITIONS OF TEAMS. The points in the junior competition now stand as under: —Jackeytown 10, High School 9, Pirates 8, Linton S, Feilding Technical 8, Union S, Feilding 4, Western United 2, Pohangina 2, Kia Toa 1, Kairanga 0. In the third-grade contest Western United appear to have a substantial lead: —western United 10, Feilding Technical 6. Palmerston North Technical r>. High School A 5, High School P. 0, Jackeytown 0.
