Miss Vogel, daughter of the late Sir Julius Vogel, has left London by the Mantua for a trip to Australia and Now Zealand.

The friends of Mr H. Gifford Moore will be glad to hear that he is making excellent progress after his recent severe operation.

Archbishop O'Shea, of Wellington, is at present visiting Palmerston North. He administered confirmation at St. Patrick 's Church yesterday morning to a large number of cirls and boys, and preached a special sermon in the evening.

A wedding of considerable interest to Hawke 's Bay took place at Brisbane several days ago, when Mr E. J. Watt was married to Miss Evelyn Taylor. The bride comes from a wellknown Queensland family.

Mr J. H. Oldham and Mr and Mrs Peters and family,, of Napier leave Auckland on Monday next by the Niara for San Francisco. The trip to New York will be made by motor car. The party then leaves for the United Kingdom, and France, Italy, and Karachi, in India. From the latter town they entrain for Calcutta, and return - t Vow Zealand via the Far East, New Guinea and Australia. Th,ey will be absent from New Zealand for about twelve months.

After an absence of about nine years from the Dominion, Dr. A. B. Fitt, M.A., Ph.D., accompanied by his wife and family, has returned on a short visit to Palmerston North. Dr Fitt is wellknown locally, and was an old boy of the Palmerston North High School, being the first pupil to graduate in the New Zealand University from the local FUgh School. Dr Fitt spent two years in Europe doing research work. From there he accepted a post in the South African University for three years, while for the past three years he has been on the staff of the Melbourne University, and specialised in phsychology.
