AN IMPROVED ASPECT. UNITED ANTI-BOLSHEVIK LINE. FROM THE CASPIAN "TO THE BALTIC. [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, December 4. Semi-official messages- from the North Russian front state that the Bolsheviks were compelled to abandon a position in the Pinega Valley and retire towards Dvina. They have also relaxed pressure in South. Russia. The situation of Russians and Germans under pursuit by the Letts is critical. It is considered that the evacuation of the Baltic States cannot be longer postponed. The volunteers in the Ukraine have joined up with the Polish advance guards, thus forming a united antiBolshevik front from the Caspian Sea the Baltic, and also rendering possible co-operation by the Poles and volunteers. A treaty has been signed under which the Galician army comes under Deniken. The Galician 'Government has been removed to Odessa. In reply to a question in the House of Commons regarding the forthcoming International Conference to consider the settlement of the future of Russia. Mr Lloyd George said it would be composed of representatives of the same allied and associated Powers as had been hitherto acting' together. It would include representatives of Soviet Russia. He hoped the Treaty of Versailles would be ratified before the end of the month.
