"THAT CALICO."
Tho Town Clerk (Mr J. Hardie) reported to the Borough Council last evening that the Council's share of the peace celebration expenses had been about £Bo.—Cr J. Hodgens said he would like to know what had become of the calico which had been bought for the peace celebrations. Ho had been in the position to know whop ho had last brought tho matter up that tho calico was lying in a shod and depreciating every day. —The Town Clerk stated that Mr Jickell had informed him a fortnight ago that he was trying to sell it but had not been successful. He' had not known whore the calico was, but would see it was removed first thing in tho morning.—lt was decided to leave tho matter of disposing of tho calico in the hands of the Town Clerk. Cr Beale (a few moments later): Eeferring to "that calico!" (Laughter.) Does it belong to the Borough or the Peace Celebrations Committee? Or Crabb: The question is closed. (Laughter.)
